Revitalizing The Delacorte

The Public, in partnership with Central Park Conservancy and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, has embarked on a much-needed revitalization of the 62-year-old Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The plan will dramatically improve the home of Free Shakespeare in the Park, addressing critical infrastructure, accessibility, and theatrical needs. Renovations are underway and while the theater is closed, don’t miss Go Public! A Festival of Free Shakespeare in the Park taking place all over NYC this summer. We look forward to the revitalized Delacorte’s premiere in the summer of 2025. Learn more.

PRODUCTION DETAILS.

Tony Award winner Kenny Leon (American SonA Raisin in the Sun) directs a bold new take on Shakespeare’s cherished comedy of romantic retribution and miscommunication, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. In this modern production, we find the community of Messina celebrating a break from an ongoing war. But not all is peaceful amid the revelry, as old rivals engage in a battle of wits, unexpected foes plot revenge, and young lovers are caught in a tumultuous courtship – until love proves the ultimate trickster, and undoes them all.
