Generation Women

Generation Women

April 15 - August 16, 2022

Generation Women is a multigenerational storytelling night that invites a woman or non-binary performer in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s+ to share an original true story on a theme.

Our diverse line-ups will make you laugh, cry, and reflect on the cycle of life. The mission of Generation Women is to amplify underheard voices, and create space for intergenerational connection and community. All are welcome to join us.

My Biggest Secret

We’ve all got secrets. Maybe it's a real I-know-what-you-did-last-summer secret. Or maybe it’s liking being a certain age/weight/race (etc), even when society says we shouldn’t. This month we invited our superstar performers to tell us an intimate true story about a secret wish, belief, event or dream. Whether it’s a confession, confidential, or clandestine, this month at Generation Women, it’s time to spill!

Team 20s: Kyla Sylvers is a trained actress, writer, director, and producer. Her most recent work includes her starring role in the dark-comedy crime web series, Sex, Vlogs, And Kidnappings, along with her solo piece, Chaos At 26! Or Maybe It’s Not So Bad. She is also the co-founder and CEO of Melanin & Magic Productions.

Team 30s: Chloe Caldwell is the author of The Red Zone: A Love story, and three other books: I'll Tell You In Person, Women, and Legs Get Led Astray. Her work has been published in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, The Cut, Buzzfeed, Nylon, Longreads, Vice, and many more. She teaches creative writing online and at destination retreats and lives in Hudson, NY.

Team 40s: Vanessa Mártir is a writer, editor, educator, & founder of the Writing Our Lives Workshop & the Writing the Mother Wound Movement.

She edited the bestselling anthology Goodbye to All That: Writers on Loving and Leaving NewYork and publishes Oldster Magazine. She teaches at Catapult, Bay Path MFA, and Kingston Writers’ Studio.

Team 60s: Ivy Woolf Turk is an activist, speaker, and resiliency coach. A former exec in the advertising and real estate businesses, she found herself caught up in a situation with criminal consequences and was sentenced to five years in Federal Prison. She now helps women who are imprisoned in their lives to find their way to sustainable freedom and joy.

Team 80s: Jackie Margolis is an actress and native New Yorker. She has been seen in several movies including Summer of Sam and has played many Shakespearean roles across NYC.
